چکیده

Abstract. Nitrogen oxides (NOx, NO + NO2) are potent air pollutants which directly impact on human health and aid the formation of other hazardous such as ozone (O3) particulate matter. In this study, we use satellite tropospheric column nitrogen dioxide (TCNO2) data to evaluate spatiotemporal variability magnitude United Kingdom (UK) bottom-up National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory (NAEI) NOx emissions. Although emissions TCNO2 represent different quantities, for UK city sources find a spatial correlation ∼0.5 between NAEI from high-spatial-resolution TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI), suggesting good distribution emission in inventory. Between 2005 2015, total long-term record Ozone (OMI), averaged over England, show annually decreasing trends 4.4 % 2.2 %, respectively. Top-down were derived study by applying simple mass balance approach TROPOMI-observed downwind NO2 plumes sources. Overall, these top-down estimates consistent with NAEI, but larger cities London Birmingham inventory is significantly (>25 %) less than

estimates of variation of air pollutants emission from different sources in uk from 1980 to 1996

background: measuring and monitoring of air pollutants are one of environmental and all' pollution controls tools. due to lack of widespread data in iran, this study was performed to estimate the trends of major pollutant emissions to atmosphere in the uk from 1980 to 1996. methods: this investigation is a retrospective study that the data were collected from the departments of environment, tra...

Quantifying the uncertainties of a bottom-up emission inventory of anthropogenic atmospheric pollutants in China

The uncertainties of a national, bottom-up inventory of Chinese emissions of anthropogenic SO2, NOx, and particulate matter (PM) of different size classes and carbonaceous species are comprehensively quantified, for the first time, using Monte Carlo simulation. The inventory is structured by seven dominant sectors: coal-fired electric power, cement, iron and steel, other industry (boiler combus...

Accounting for Uncertainties of the TRMM Satellite Estimates

Recent advances in the field of remote sensing have led to an increase in available rainfall data on a regional and global scale. Several NASA sponsored satellite missions provide valuable precipitation data. However, the advantages of the data are limited by complications related to the indirect nature of satellite estimates. This study intends to develop a stochastic model for uncertainty ana...

Uncertainties in decarbonising heat in the UK

Heating is arguably one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonise in the UK's energy system. Meeting the 80% greenhouse gas emission reduction target by 2050 is likely to require that heat related emissions of CO2 from buildings are near zero by 2050, and there is a 70% reduction in emissions from industry (from 1990 levels). Though it is clear that the use of the natural gas network will re...
